DEA vs Kratom

For a start, a few words about what is kratom.

It is dried and crushed leaves of the plant, which grows in South-East Asia.

When ingested, the person receives a charge of additional energy, so farmers in Vietnam and Malaysia, for example, consume kratom to hard work in the field.

In the United States, kratom is used primarily to relieve a hangover or withdrawal from opium drugs (heroin, painkillers, etc.).

He is also popular with hard working people who can not sleep properly.

Kratom is still sold freely in sports nutrition stores and pharmacies, where it lies on the shelves with food supplements (herbal supplements). The number of kratom fans in America exceeds 500 thousand people.

However, many people use it regularly.

“Fools who work for the DEA have no clue about the benefits of kratom,” says Walt Dear, 44, a Texas builder, indignant. - I'm allergic to coffee and energy, so Kratom is a real salvation. A couple of capsules and a working day starting at 6 am don't seem so hard. ”

30-year-old Elizabeth Wayne from Connecticut says that Kratom helps her with regular workouts at the fitness club. A young woman leads a healthy lifestyle and one hundred percent sure of his safety.

“I already bought 200 packs of kratom and I hope to get the same amount,” says Wayne. “It is very strange that the DEA prohibits this necessary and sought-after supplement with such haste.”

The fighters against drugs, however, bring very inconclusive statistics to their defense: from 2010 to 2015, 660 people called 911 and complained about being poisoned by Kratom.

For comparison: last year alone, 300 thousand people were poisoned by drugs. Even an overdose of caffeine, which is contained in ordinary coffee, happens more often than the dosage of a banned food additive.

“It’s quite likely that behind the DEA ban are pharmaceutical companies and medical organizations that want to ban all OTC drugs and get people to go to doctors,” says Robert T., a Kratom dealer in Oregon.

- My clients are concerned. Kratom for many years was a means of salvation. People used it early Monday morning to survive at work after a hectic weekend. ”

Robert honestly admits that he has never seen convulsions, hallucinations, and fevers that are supposedly side effects of kratom. The ban, in his opinion, will lead to underground trade. Moreover, some kratom lovers will start using antidepressants.

It is curious that the Kratom began to be imported into the United States several years after the appearance of the legendary trading company Dutch West India Company (1567). Then the natural leaves of the Asian plant were very popular among mothers raising small children and agricultural workers. Until the 20th century, Kratom was not regulated by any legislative act.

Some historical sources say that kratom supported the fighting spirit of northerners during the Civil War.

The ban on kratom in a suspicious manner coincided with a new campaign against caffeine powder, energy drinks and a number of food additives that give a similar stimulating effect. Lovers of conspiracy theories saw in what was going on the desire of the government and pharmaceutical corporations to remove from the market all goods that give a person energy (stimulants).

The ban on kratom also coincided with news from the state of Jalisco (Mexico) that was not noticed by the American media. Local drug cartels intend to "reorient the market" and increase the supply of cocaine to the United States. At the same time, they promise an even cleaner and cheaper product than their Colombian colleagues. Therefore, in the drug market of America will soon begin the struggle of "prescription stimulants against cocaine." It will replace the standoff “prescription painkillers against heroin.”

Finally, I will say that my material is by no means an advertisement for a kratom. Like many other folk remedies from South Asia, it has many negative and positive characteristics.
